Cormac Simms

Born in Ireland, Cormac Simms worked at various music festivals there before taking a diploma in arts administration at the Central London Polytechnic. He worked for the Arts Council of Great Britain before going on to work for a musical charity. In 1985 he joined the staff of the Royal Opera House. He subsequently became Company Manager for The Royal Opera in 1998. He was appointed General Manager of the Royal Opera in 2006, and Administrative Director in 2011.
He currently works with the Director of Opera, focusing on financial and administrative support, to produce new productions, commissions and revivals for the Royal Opera. He leads and manages the Opera Company team providing support for the realisation of productions.
He acts as an ambassador for the Royal Opera, maintaining contacts and networks both in the UK and internationally. He has been particularly associated with several co-productions with major opera companies in Europe, America and China. He has contributed to several international forums and symposiums on the subject of theatre management.
