Maree Kearns
Maree Kearns is a theatre designer based in Dublin. She has designed set and costumes for stage and screen, across theatre, dance, opera, musical theatre, film and television with many of Ireland’s leading companies and directors. Maree is the Design Course Director for the Masters in Stage Design at the Lir Academy of Dramatic Art, Trinity College, Dublin.
Recent designs include Two Pints by Roddy Doyle at the Abbey Theatre, Faultline for Anu productions/Gate Theatre in the Dublin Theatre Festival, The Alternative for Fishamble the New Play Company, Torch by ANU, directed by Louise Lowe, the Fringe First winning Class at Edinburgh Fringe Festival written and directed by David Horan and Iseult Golden, Rathmines Road a Fishamble/ Abbey Theatre co-production, The Wizard of Oz, directed by Wayne Jordan and Il ballo delle ingrate, directed by Caitriona McLaughlin.
Maree has worked extensively with David Bolger and CoisCéim Dance Theatre, designing Invitation to a Journey, Agnes, Francis Footwork (costume), Pageant & Faun/ As You Are. She also frequently works with Fishamble the New Play company designing new work by some of Ireland’s most established playwrights and new writers. Other companies she has worked with include: The Ark, The Corn Exchange, Guna Nua, Verdant Productions, Second Age, Nomad, MCD, The Gaiety Theatre and The Lir Academy. Maree is the recipient of the Irish Times best set design award for Observe the Sons of Ulster, Marching Towards the Somme.
